Bat Incense Holder - Intermediate Pottery Workshop

Take your clay skills further with this intermediate-level workshop led by Chelsea @ Soul Ceramiks. In this 2.5–3 hour session, you’ll craft a striking bat incense holder from rich black clay, learning step by step how to build the form, carve in fine details, and shape a functional piece designed for incense cones.
Guided throughout, you’ll explore construction techniques and decorative carving to give your bat character—whether eerie, whimsical, or somewhere in between.
The design comes to life when smoke drifts gently from the bat’s nose, adding atmosphere to your space. A short break midway will keep the session relaxed while still leaving plenty of time to refine your creation.
After the workshop, your piece will be and fired and the eyes glazed a striking blue, ready to collect in 4–6 weeks. Perfect for clay lovers looking for a creative challenge.

Throwing Lessons

Throw 2 pots on the wheel and choose the best one to be fired and glazed.
£40 per person.
Pots will be fired in a studio house white glaze, other colours can be chosen at and additional £5 charge.

As it is peak season (August - December),
I cannot currently accommodate block booking sessions as unfortunately I am just one person running all of the seasonal workshops, throwing experiences, kiln firings, glazings and markets.
I hope to be rolling these out again at the beginning of 2026.

Depending on how many sessions you book, you can learn how to wedge clay ready for throwing, centre clay on the wheel, open up your pots, bring up the walls of pots, giving shape to your pieces, troubleshooting, and how to remove your pieces safely from the wheel head.
